Refreshing is the word that comes to mind when reviewing the Dior Homme Spring 2019 Menswear collection. If there is one thing we were reminded of, it's that masculinity has no true definition, and at this point it may as well be a myth. Kim Jones' debut collection for the house proved that menswear certainly does not have to be limited to dark sleek suits and labelled athleisure.
Jones succeeded Kris Van Assche, who had been at Dior Homme for over a decade, and whose collections were typically accustomed to a black, grey and red color scheme. While certain aspects of Kim's collection resembled those of Van Assche, it's clear that Jones is planning to steer away from his predecessor's aesthetic and is opening Dior Homme to a more freeing form of menswear, where light, pale colors and floral details are right at home in the newly reconstructed house.
